Painting quickly and directly, I work both indoors and outdoors, confronting the objects, forms, and spatial relationships distinctive to our times.

Though for many, art no longer comes out of an intuitive need to create form, I believe much still remains to be learned from practicing the oil painting sketch, alla prima. This sense of exploration and a desire to push new boundaries is my incentive to paint. I constantly strive to push my work to new levels in new and challenging environments, to push the boundaries of the landscape genre, to push the boundaries of people who are no longer able to be entertained by the world visible outside their TV room window, and, most importantly, to make paintings.
